Management and Business Strategy

MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP MINDSETS

What does the corporate world really need now? A bunch of clever people? -- not so. What the corporate world needs most is people with both management and leadership mindsets!

Peter Drucker once said: "Management is doing things right; while leadership doing the right things."

Doing things right will obviously bring a good result.

But what exactly the "right things" are? What do we need to know what the right things are? In other words, what do we need to lead so that we know what the right things are? Obviously, the right mindset!

Management and leadership mindsets are like a pair of wings that will get someone off the ground and fly -- and perform well in whatever he/she does.

If management focuses on result; leadership focuses on people. The management and leadership mindsets forum discusses how a professional develop both mindsets and know how to use them to navigate the situation skilfully at work -- and bring forth excellent performance.

Towards Greater Customer Relationship and Loyalty

Picture
OFFERING PRODUCTS & SERVICES ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH. In this era of intense social media, offering products or services alone is not enough. A compelling experience that transcends business transactions is what customers greatly desire and value.

Yes, it’s still true, that offering great products or services satisfies customers, as they bring functional benefits. But customers’ relationship and loyalty can only be strengthened by emotional benefits through wholesome experiences.

CREATE EMOTIONAL CONNECTIONS. When companies attentively focus on giving their customers experiences that are memorable⎯satisfaction will occur naturally. This also creates an emotional bonding with their customers.
Relationship between companies and customers strengthened through emotional connections is difficult to be broken by competitors.

SET APART FROM COMPETITORS. Thus, companies that are capable of creating such relationship with their customers set apart from competitors: They create a competitive advantage that is difficult to match.

BUSINESS STRATEGY

Every enterprise needs to know where it is heading. And it needs a map. Not any map but a strategy map!

STRATEGY FORMULATION PROCESS. For four days (24-28 July), using clear analysis, intellectual frameworks and  interview approach, Fourteena of Arc Australia worked with Agus Teh, Managing Director of PT Wira Arta Telematika along with Imelda Teh, its Finance Director, guiding them through the strategy formulation process, in order to develop a comprehensive and concise business growth strategy blueprint for PT Wira Arta Telematika, an ICT company founded in 2001 — specialises in networking and security — based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

MISSION INTO ACTION. Creating a strategic plan is one thing, making it happen is another. Fourteena also helped Agus and Imelda communicate the newly created strategy to all their team members in their first “all-hands” meeting held on Thursday, 2 August 2018.

Bid Management Strategy: Bid to Win!

Many potential business relationships begin by responding to bid request. Documents that initiate this process are usually referred as RFP (Request for Proposal), Request for Tender (RFT), Request for Quote (RFQ) or Invitation to Tender (ITT).

Most companies issue a bid or tender in order to find the best supplier that eventually can become a partner that understands their needs. Unless we are the best and win the bid there’s no prize in coming second.

Question then is, ‘How to be the BEST and WIN the bid?’

To produce a winning bid response (bid), we need a disciplined bid management process and a committed bid team led by a bid manager, acting as ‘a hub among the spokes’, who runs the process.

Companies without a disciplined bid management process generally only achieve 30% (or under) win rates. But those who apply the process consistently and rigorously can achieve over 80% win rates .

Bid and Win is a 2-day workshop (3-hour each) for business executives who prepare bids (writers) and also for those who evaluate them (readers).

Based on bid winning experience, this workshop introduces a bid management process including creating a bid winning strategy, building a winning bid team and producing winning bids.

A case study based on a real example will be used to assist participants understand better how to apply the bid management process from start to finish.

"... outstanding results against all odds."
